Drowning – Jessie Taylor

I am a foreigner in waiting, having stumbled

Upon a world which is not my own.

Between longing and desire I slip

Back and forth,

Back and forth.

There will be no mercy in the wind tonight.

The somber scent of orange fills my lungs

As the chill surrounds me.

It is the aroma of soft kisses, of lips

From a time before. It is the stench

Of decay.

There will be no mercy in the water tonight.

Slip,

Slip,

Slip.

Surround me.

Surround me from all sides.
